Frame Info

Built for going fast. Simplicity is what we’re aiming for here – no wishbones, no crimps, no harsh bends on the seatstays or chainstays, no front triangle gussets, and no rear stay bridges that have been laser-cut to resemble intricate metalwork pieces: and of course, all made from proper 4130 chromoly. 4130 chromoly is the stuff we’ve been making BMX frames from for decades, refined and produced into a high quality tubeset and expertly welded by our preferred frame builder.

We chose lighter, slightly slimmer diameter tubing while retaining all-important strength and durability – and combined plain-gauge rear ends with double-butted front end and heat-treated bottom bracket, headtube, and dropouts. We didn’t go nuts and drill holes or laser-cut slots everywhere, we kept everything sensible and designed it properly – and ended up with a durable trails machine. Proportion wise, we didn’t go too low-slung – otherwise, that could look like a bicycle trials frame.

We chose a low 11.5 inch bottom bracket, to create a frame with a low centre of gravity and a very stable and balanced feel – which is vital when you’re hitting the Bar End’s Back Line at mach ten. Nobody wants a skittish high bottom bracket or a flatland-frame back end in that situation.

Likewise, we picked a traditional 74 degree head angle – something that’s a little more stable than some of today’s street frames which measure 75 or even 76. A steep head angle is all good when you’re nose-wheeling the curb outside Lidl, but not when you’re hitting big lines.

We specced small round tubes to act as neat rear-stay bridges, and then paid attention to the brake mounts. For one, they’re placed on the chainstays so the brakes actually work better and they look cleaner – our lowered chainstay position combined with today’s modern u-brakes create more room, so running 25:9 gearing will be no problem. We then angled the brake-lugs (at 81 degrees) and the cable stop to ensure good cable line.

The dropouts are super-light – we trimmed down the shape, slotted them for 14mm axles, and also made them 4mm thin. I wouldn’t recommend using pegs on these dropouts – and shedding unnecessary material here made sense. Also, instead of running angle-capped stays like every other BMX frame out there, we took a little influence from classic road bikes and dome-ended the stays – it makes them just look faster. Neat.

Deluxe shovelhand grips // Black / Brown / Red / Green

Here they are – the first Deluxe grip… First things first, if you like skinny grips that will wear out in approximately a fortnight, then these won’t be for you. They are mansize, coming in at 150mm long and 30mm diameter. Next up, they’re actually made from recycled rubber (just trying to do our environmental part – or at least, raise some awareness). They feel awesome – soft, durable, they wear in really well, and feel bloody great. The first batch comes in four colours – red, black, brown, or mottled green. And they’re called Shovelhands – thanks to Chris for helping out with the graphics design! As this is not just a mushroom with a logo slapped on the middle, here’s an explanation for the grip pattern… sorta line up the logos, pixelate the logos, make a barcode pattern, that sort of thing. And it works a treat. Out now…

Deluxe DLX chainwheel // Black / Silver polished / Red / Blue

> Simple, light sprocket
> Available in 25, 28, 30 or 36 tooth (for the olschool in ya)
>
25 tooth / 60g
>
28 tooth / 80g
>
30 tooth / 90g
>
36 tooth / 100g

Sprocket Info:

We wanted something simple and effective. None of us are going to be sprocket grinding concrete hubbas at every available opportunity, so we don't need anything thick or tough as a bag of old nails (or as heavy). We have the three most popular sizes, in two colours (polished or black), with CNC logos and a classic profile.

Deluxe Pompom chainwheel // Black / Silver polished / Red / Blue

> Designed by Alexandre Pommier aka Pompom
> Simple, light sprocket
> Available in 25, 28 or 30 tooth
>
30 tooth / 90g
> 28 tooth / 80g
> 25 tooth / 60g

Sprocket Info:

Pompom isn’t just a badass on a bike – he’s also a fully qualified CNC machinist and has custom-made a few parts, such as pedals and sprockets. He came up with this design, which we thought was so good we’d put it into production. We’ve tested these for months, and they are dialled and now ready to go. CNC machined from high-grade 7075-T6 aluminium, in polished, black, red or blue.

Deluxe Seatclamp // Black / Silver polished / Red / Blue

CNC Machined from 6061-T6 aluminium, to match the Deluxe sprocket, in four colours. Designed by Sylvain Taro.

Deluxe seat / seat pole combo // Black

The new Deluxe seat is an ultralight seat and post combo which tips the scales at just under 220g (7.7oz), making it one of the lightest BMX seats on the market. Deluxe have had these on test for a few months now, and the team have given them the thumbs up. The seat base is made from reinforced polypropelyne, the post is 6061-T6 aluminium (it’s a decent length too, meaning you can even run it a little higher than slammed), and the seat surface is Kevlar material for durability. The way the seat attaches to the post means it’ll never twist or come off.

Colours: Black seat, with choice of white, red, black or blue embroidered logo.
